The Legendary WarlordHRH, CHIEF OGEDENGBE (Oba-Ala Ogedengbe 1) of Ilesha.

The Great Ogedengbe in his war uniform
The Great Ogedengbe dynasty’s first generation.

Saraibi Ogedengbe (famously known as Ogedengbe Agbogungboro) hails from Atorin Village, Ilesa, Osun state. His parents were  Pa Apasanforijiwa & Madam Falupo.

Ogedengbe was a personality who had made history and established society from the very beginning to adulthood. He was a proud, brave, and trustworthy Ijesa warlord, but very challenging, he loved his city and its people truly.

Ogedengbe was neither a nonsensical man nor afraid. He was invincible, ready to fight or attack someone who would try to challenge him and not stop until the end.

Ogedengbe was the greatest symbol of his day. He had fame, charm, intelligence, and knowledge. Men would want to be him, and women would want to be his wife.

He was the Dictator of the Ekiti Army, about twenty kilometers from the now East Atokomosa municipality, was the village of his mother; Oke-Orisa was the village of his father that is nearly the same distance from Ilesha and the Local Government areas as Atorin.

The Ifa oracle predicted  before Ogedengbe was born that he would be the Ijeshaland savior. Ogedengbe’s name was SARAIBI when he was born.

He came to life as a normal child and grew up as a healthy, diligent young man at Atorin. From the beginning, when he wrestled with his friends, he always waved them, so that the word “OGEDENGBE” came from the early years of his life that he was solid and overcame all his friends in valor. Ogedengbe waged several camps in adulthood against the people of Ibadan who persecuted and threatened the Ijesha people. He was captured and sent to Ibadan during one of these battles.

It was the Ibadan people who placed tribal markings on their faces in this occasion before they released him. He worked in an Ibadan army until the general returned to fight and lead Ijesha troops. He was a top military officer.

After this, he gathered a large army of Ijesha young men and engaged in several bitter fightings against the Ibadan people.

The adventures of Ogedengbe brought him to the regions of Ekiti and Akoko, where he sold others to slavery. That’s why he’s often called “O soko Ekiti soko Akoko.” He also went to the state of Edo today. Until he quit defending  his domain and fighting Benin kingdom, the Oba of Benin was obliged to appease him. He offered beads, slaves and other precious things to Ogedengbe.

Ogedengbe went back to Igbara-Oke after this exploit to settle there. This was the moment when the Ibadan people waged a ferocious Oke-Imesi war with the Ijeshas and the Ekitis. The Ijeshas and Ekitis leaders had to convince Ogedengbe to come and take them on board, as his unique accomplishments had become a legend in Yoruba. He agreed and went to fight to test the Ibadan people’s excessive ambition.

Around nine years of struggle continued. After having won the war, in 1886 (23th September 1886) it was captain Bower, the Ibadan residing commissioner who ultimately resolved the war by a treaty. Because of all these qualities, he became a local hero in his region.

The name ‘OGEDENGBE AGBOGUNGBORO,’ ‘OGEDENBE THE WARRIOR’ was then one of the largest men in history in Yoruba, in Nigeria and Africa.

President Of NUJ notifies Federal Government not to permit Chinese medical team into Nigeria

The Nigerian Journalists ‘Union (NUJ) called on the Federal Government to avoid the involvement in the battle against coronavirus in the country of the Chinese medical team.

The union was distressed by a Federal Government decision to introduce Chinese medicines to Nigeria to battle COVID-19, Mr Chris Isiguzo, NUJ Chief, in a statement on Saturday. The Union was frightened.

The Nigerian physicians are particularly effective in preventing outbreaks, according to Isiguzo. We condemn a situation in which Nigerians are used for some experiment as a Guinea pig.

Therefore, the federal government should be asked to prevent this medical team from arriving in Nigeria because of an Italian instance where COVID-19 deaths linked to the arrival of the Chinese Doctors had a extremely unexplainable increase.

“The Federal Government will analyze the case as a matter of urgency that what is happening today is connected with the introduction 5 G communication network to Nigerians.

“We advise the federal government to be more involved in resolving these emerging problems as a result of any mistakes that have been made,” Isiguzo said.
